We are searching for a Business Analyst who not only brings a wealth of experience in the Voluntary Insurance (e.g., short term disability, long term disability, life, etc.) industry but is also adept and comfortable in a role which involves direct interaction with clients. The successful candidate will have a solid foundation and proven track record in the following areas: products, benefits, management, underwriting, rating, and case installation.


The Business Analyst may cover multiple projects and is responsible for analyzing stakeholder needs and business processes to identify, write, and validate business/user requirements for large software projects. Within Agile teams at FJA, the BA is also responsible to support and/or manage that business requirements are captured as project epics/features and user stories with clear acceptance criteria to be utilized for project team execution.

Hybrid Work Model & Location: All candidates must be a resident of the US based in the State of New York. Team members are required to be present in-office/onsite at our Midtown NYC office a minimum of 1 day per week. Please note, this frequency may increase based on business requirements. Relocation assistance is not offered for this position.


Work Schedule: This position requires availability during operational hours as determined by specific business and client needs that may include different time zone(s) than an individual’s physical location. Dependent upon business requirements, schedule flexibility with and without advance notice is required as this position may necessitate working additional days and hours outside of the employee’s regular work schedule.


Travel: Flexibility to travel as business needs dictate is required. Domestic overnight travel will be required to other FJA and/or client offices; frequency varies from project to project. Additionally, we bring our whole team together for an annual meeting held within the US.


Education/Training: High School Diploma or equivalent required, college degree in healthcare administration, business, IT, or related field preferred; Agile Business Analyst certification is a plus.



  • Minimum 2 years required:
    • Client facing business analyst in a decentralized environment.
    • Large complex software implementation and integration projects using Agile methodology within centralized and decentralized environments.
    • oluntary Insurance (e.g., short term disability, long term disability, life, etc) Industry including products, benefits management, underwriting, rating, and case installations.
  • Experience with JIRA, Quality Center (QC) and Confluence software tools is a plus.

  • Demonstrate competency to rapidly learn business application functionality and become knowledgeable about end-to-end features to enable effective business/user requirements gathering.
  • Advanced understanding of and ability to apply the concepts of usability and best practices in User Interface design.

Physical Demands

New York Based Business Analyst Hiring Pay Range: 92,000 – 115,000 annualized. This stated hiring pay range is our good faith belief at the time of this posting. Final compensation placement will vary based on multiple factors such as experience, knowledge, competencies, and skill level as well as internal equity.


Bonus Compensation: Discretionary annual bonus amounts are not guaranteed and are subject to change based on company and individual performance. Discretionary annual bonuses, when paid, are determined by the leadership team, and is based upon an individual going above and beyond the scope of the job role.
