Boca Raton, Florida, July 16, 2025 – Powered by FJA’s Submission Engine, a leading regional health plan in the Pacific Northwest successfully completed its automated Medicare Advantage and Part D plan submission package ahead of the mandated June deadline. This automation saves the plan a significant amount of time, while also positioning them to efficiently scale future operations.
Under the CMS regulations, all Medicare Advantage and Part D insurers must submit a Plan Benefit Package (PBP) to Health Plan Management System (HPMS), detailing the benefits and cost-sharing information for a service area. It’s a dense file, with thousands of data points that must be accurately mapped from the source application to HPMS.
“We’ve had this solution in place for a while, but it’s a real win to see our clients completing final bid submissions before the deadline,” says Michael Fernandez, FJA’s Vice President of Health Solutions. “The automated process saves significant time by eliminating dual data entry in the plan’s system and then again in HPMS – which can introduce errors – and is fully scalable to adjust to future changes and new business needs.”
The FJA platform includes key functionality to ensure submission accuracy. The application allows users to test benefit updates prior to submission as often as needed. FJA’s Doc Engine, integrated with the Submission Engine, provides a comparison functionality to generate a side-by-side view between previous and current portfolio years to easily track and validate changes prior to final submission. Underlying both applications is the FJA Product Machine, a centralized data repository for Medicare Advantage product portfolio and plan data that is used across the enterprise for downstream systems and with external parties.
“The CMS mandated PBP bid filing means no wiggle room for errors or delays. Insurers are often pushed against the final submission deadline due to complex internal processes and benefit decisions. Having a trusted partnership between this client and FJA, along with a streamlined solution, helped to bring the final submission across the finish line early. We’re proud to be a part of their team,” says Joe Wilds, FJA’s Chief Growth Officer.
Doc Engine works in tandem with Submission Engine to generate various documents and reports. It can also be configured for mandated member materials, including ANOC, EOC, and SB to streamline processes and ensure that filing data and member information are always in sync.
